There are five designated developing mediums within the Circle and in all we have eleven dedicated sitters with additional guests attending upon invitation.

In recent years I have been asked many times to offer advice to newly developing mediums or to those that wish to start their own circles. My advice is always to remain focussed upon what you wish to achieve and to dedicate yourself to this intent by sitting regularly. As the developmental process varies from person to person I feel it inappropriate to advise other people upon a subject that is endlessly complex and eternally interesting. At the end of the day, it is the energy force of interest that causes mediumship development to become effected.

Below I offer links to music that is popularly played here within the Lodge.
I also offer the prayer that we use here, as I feel that it might help guide others to form their own.

MUSIC

This is the music we use to open every seance:
Tim Wheater - The Warrior's Prayer (2nd Movement) (Heartland)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bcdbep9miA&feature=related

This is the music we use to indicate close of seance. In blackout conditions we would switch on the red light at the end of this piece:
Enigma-Return to Innocence:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_ALElMLpRA

Starting a new Circle? This song welcomes spirit into your created space:
Jim Reeves- Welcome to my World:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_sU0pAE-fE

FC offered this beautiful song forward:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uank0gwFgyE&feature=related

PRAYERS

Opening prayer used in the Lodge when we are sitting to develop the demonstration of physical phenomena: http://www.box.net/shared/a7k0o7t2o0ac3vuybosx

Opening prayer used in the lodge when we are sitting for trance development: http://www.box.net/shared/s4oo3g5sxt33ivf2kkyc

Our closing prayer: http://www.box.net/shared/3be3iknss99xk0clx4l5

BLACKOUT

Our lodge is purpose built, without windows and with a wooden strip around the door that has velcro stapled to it. The double-thickness blackout curtain fits this frame and has velcro sewn all around it.

Attaining total blackout in a room that is not used solely for seances is difficult. If this is the situation then it may be best to sit in red light, with heavyweight lined curtains closed at the windows. After all, in Victorian times very successful seances were often held by the light of a candle.

HOW MANY SITTERS?

Those sitting in harmony, with open hearts and with trust in each other is all that is required. In the Lodge we prefer to have two witnesses when sitting with a medium. This helps to ensure that any evidential phenomena can be verified by both having seen it at the same time.

Gradually as a medium develops with stability we invite further sitters as witnesses, usually offering an invitation to one at a time and waiting until each is settled before inviting further. Most of our regular seances have between five and seven sitters as we feel most comfortable within a small group setting.

As development progresses we invite guests to witness the phenomena that is becoming demonstraated. We seldom invite more than two visting guests to each seance. This ensures that there is no great change to the energy being used by the spirit team and also ensures that the guests are well supported within what may be for them an emotional experience.
